About this trip: HISC’s 42nd year with Siegi and Irene, the owners of Siegi Tours. This is the best family and learn to ski trip there is. Included in the price are 5-days of ski or snowboard lessons for all ages and ability levels. The beautiful town of Schwarzach is about 60 km south of Salzburg and only a snowball’s throw from the village where Silent Night was written. Breakfast and dinner meals are included and there is entertainment every evening for children and adults. Ski/snowboard rental shops are nearby. This is a U-drive trip.

Day care is available for those too young for the slopes at the home of friendly skilled and caring babysitters or the mini club at the slopes. The highlight of the week is the ski instruction that is included in the price of the trip. High quality, fun instructors will get non-skiers feeling comfortable on skis in no time. These same instructors will easily further develop the intermediate and expert skier, thus enhancing your technical skills and skiing form.

Trip Opens: October 14

Final Payment Due: December 2

Trip Price: 450€. The trip is 5 nights (Sunday - Saturday) and the price includes room with bath or shower, 6 breakfasts, 6 dinners, 5-day ski instruction, and evening entertainment.

Hotel: We will be staying at the 3-star Post Hotel. They can be reached at +43-6415-4212.

Skiing: St.Veit im Pongau, the quaint Austrian village, is about 60 km south of the city of Salzburg and located in the heart of the tremendous SPORTWELT AMADE ski and snowboard area. One lift pass covers unlimited skiing / boarding in this spectacular region with 276 ski lifts and more than 860 km of prepared ski runs from the Gastein Valley over Flachau / Zauchensee all the way to Schladming. There are 97 km of black runs, 488 km red runs, and 280 km of blue runs. Cross-country enthusiasts will equally be thrilled by the enormous variety of trails.

Lift Passes: 5 day lift pass is 154€ for adults, 129€ for youth (16-18), and 86€ for children (5-15). An additional refundable key card deposit is required.

Equipment Rental: Ski equipment rental is readily available at the resort but it is more expensive than renting through outdoor rec. Renting prior to departure may be more convenient for you. The TC is not responsible for equipment rental or sizing. There are a variety of places to rent equipment in the St. Veit area. Charly’s Sport Shop offers 5-day ski/boot/pole rental. Siegi Tours Ski/Board School Red-White-Red offers 5-day snowboard rental. Plan to arrive early if you plan to rent in St. Veit to ensure you have the equipment in time for the first day of lessons.

Departure: This is a “u-drive”. Plan on arriving by around 16:00/4:00 PM on Sunday. The trip is 550 km, so allow at least six hours to drive there.

Return: You may depart anytime after breakfast (approximately 08:30) on your day of departure - Saturday. Note: Would recommend stopping in Salzburg on your return, as this city is similar in many regards to Heidelberg. It is the home of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and is very pretty this time of year. Stop and spend a few hours enjoying this lovely town.

Special note: you must purchase an autobahn “vignette” for Austria prior to driving in Austria. You can purchase the vignette at the local “ADAC” office (near the Esso gas station just off Speyererstraße, near Patton Barracks). Or you can also purchase one at the Esso gas station (Samerberg) just past Rosenheim on autobahn A8 south of Munich. This is a good place to also fill your tank, as this is the last Esso/BP station before the Austrian border.
