About this trip: Back again this year is the trip for those who have to get onto the snow before they are done raking leaves.  This is high altitude glacier skiing in an area that is a safe bet for snow in early October.  Many of the mostly American Ski Clubs from Europe start every season at Sölden on Columbus Day weekend where our host, Scherer Tours, provides us the chance to “test ride” some skis and boards that are going to be new on the market this year.  The advances in equipment every year are amazing.  Find your dream skis or board on this trip and spend the season telling your pals you’ll wait for them at the bottom of the hill.

This trip is a combined trip with the Tannenbaum Ski Club.

Trip Price: 275€, Single Supplement 45€. The trip is 3 nights (Friday - Sunday) and the price includes transportation, 3 breakfasts, and 2 dinners. .

Skiing: We will ski at Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers with 34 lifts. These cover 23 km of black runs, 73 km of red runs, and 45 km of blue runs. Sine this is early season glacier skiing, not all of these runs are open. There is no cross country skiing.

Trip Opens: September 21

Final Payment Due: October 5

The TC is not responsible for equipment rental or sizing. The bus will not wait for those turning in equipment at the last minute; please plan accordingly.

Lessons: Lessons are available. Recommend referring to the tourist info web site for more information.

Departure:This is a shared trip with the Tannenbaum ski club. Note that there is no HISC Trip Captain (TC)  on the bus, and no food or drinks are provided on the bus.  The bus will depart PHV from the Commissary gate Park and Ride area.  That will simplify access control procedures since the bus will already have K-Town passengers on board.  Departure time is scheduled for 17:00. Time adjustment may be made by the HISC trips manager based on coordination with the K-Town TC.  Time adjustments will be announced in advance. The bus ride is about 6.5 hours.  When paid in full, members may reserve/select their bus seat.  The bus waits for no one.  Check-in with the TC prior to 16:45 or risk being assessed a 10€ penalty fee that will be used to support the trip party fund.  Special Note:  Please pack lightly, the bus has limited cargo carrying capacity.  Limit yourself to an overnight bag, ski boot bag, and skis. Thanks.

Return: We’ll leave Söldenaround 16:00.  Precise time will be announced at the hotel.  The Tannenbaum TC has the authority to adjust the departure time but will notify skiers the night before departure and again the morning of departure.  Estimated return to PHV NLT 23:00.

Enjoy the trip!
