About this trip: Our 7 th year as guests of Wolfgang at this “mile-high” hütte and we’re going to claim we don’t know why this has been the fastest sellout of all the HISC trips three years in a row. We’ll stay in a beautiful Tyrolean mountain hütte high above the Kitzbühel valley, on the slope. This ski-in/out location is an ideal trip for families. Departure is early Friday morning at 0600, because we must arrive while the lifts are running; luggage is delivered by snowmobile.

When we get to Kitzbühel we ride a slow chairlift up to ski down to the oldest hütte in the area.  There is no spa, no internet and no access to the valley once the lifts close at dusk.  Rooms are all quads and triples and the bathrooms are down the hall and shared. School age youngsters will enjoy the slumber party atmosphere. Parents will have a stress free weekend while children entertain themselves. Romance? Not here. Couples without kids will share a room.

Wolfgang is a great host and 0ur hütte serves hearty Tyrolean meals and has a charming bar and atmosphere, but this isn’t a trip for those seeking bar-hopping nightlife.  There is no access to town once the lifts close for the day.  There is no TV and you may actually have to eat meals with your family and even talk to them.  Ask anyone who has been on this trip before and they will tell you, “This trips stinks.”  Then watch as they get in line early to sign up again.

All this while skiing the world famous Kitzbühel ski slopes, including the Hahnenkamm downhill race course – the most spectacular on the World Cup circuit. After our early afternoon arrival, we’ll have the rest of Friday for skiing, all day Saturday and Sunday and then most of Monday before the trip home.

Trip Price: 290€. No single rooms are available on this trip. The trip is 3 nights (Fri - Sun) and the price includes transportation, room, 3 breakfasts, and 3 dinners.

Skiing: We will ski at Kitzbühel-Jochberg with 57 lifts plus cable cars. These cover 27 km of black runs, 71 km of red runs, and 72 km of blue runs. Cross country skiing is available, but you will need to take chair lift to the valley.
