About this trip: The White Arena provides outstanding skiing for intermediates and enough hard-core black runs and off-piste skiing to challenge the most advanced skier. Beginners can keep busy on the Vorab glacier or under La Siala peak. Langlaufers have 60 km of double-tracked loops and there’s an 8 km skate loop. This year our hotel is located directly in Flims. We advertised this as the Ryan-Air trip last year. No frills. You bring your own snacks to the bus and dinner Saturday night isn’t included. It was a winner. Flims-Laax is spread over a large area, but it is remote and has no train bringing hordes of skiers in for the weekend. As a result lift lines are unusual here so you can do a whole lot of skiing in a very short time. Our hotel is located directly in Flims for those who want to venture out to party, but there is no reason to go far to eat or drink. The Surselva Braü Brewery is located right behind the hotel serving great meals with plenty of fresh “water” to wash it down. www.surselva-bier.ch Trip Price: 210€, Single Supplement 50€. The trip is 2 nights (Friday - Sunday) and the price includes transportation, room with bath or shower, and 2 breakfasts. Skiing: We will ski at Alpen arena with 27 lifts. These cover 46 km of black runs, 71 km of red runs, and 63 km of blue runs. There are excellent opportunities for cross country skiing on groomed tracks if the snow allows. Trip Opens: February 16 Final Payment Due: March 16 Trip Captain: Mark and Gerry
Gerbereux Hotel: We will be staying at the 3-star Hotel Garni National. The hotel has a sauna and a whirlpool. They can be reached at +41 81 928 1474. Lift Passes: An adult 2-day lift pass is 134 Swiss Francs (ChF), youth is 90 ChF, and for children it is 45 ChF. Prices are approximate and subject to change without notice. Equipment Rental: Ski equipment rental is readily available at the resort but it is more expensive than renting through outdoor rec. Renting prior to departure may be more convenient for you. The TC is not responsible for equipment rental or sizing. The bus will not wait for those turning in equipment at the last minute; please plan accordingly. Lessons: Lessons are available. Recommend referring to the tourist info web site for more information. Departure: The bus will depart PHV from the Dental Clinic parking lot at 5 pm (17:00). The travel time is approximately 6 hours. When paid in full, members may reserve/select their bus seat. The bus waits for no one. Check-in with the TC prior to 16:45 or risk being assessed a 10€ penalty fee that will be used to support the trip party fund. Special Note: Please pack lightly, the bus has limited cargo carrying capacity. Limit yourself to an overnight bag, ski boot bag, and skis. Thanks. Return: The trip captain will notify skiers of the departure time the night before departure and again the morning of departure. Enjoy the trip! |
