We were tired of riding in circles around the Bodensee so last year we tried the Danube river for our annual bike trip |

About this trip:We loved it! So we are going back again. The Danube River (Donau in German) flows from its source at Donaueschingen in the Black Forest of Germany, to the Black Sea, 2900 kilometers (1,700 miles) downstream. By far the most popular section for biking is the Austrian Danube between Passau, Germany (on the Austrian border) and Vienna, a total distance of 340 kilometers (~200 miles). We don’t have the time to bike that far, so we’ll bike from Passau to the Austrian city of Grein – about 150 km, or about 50 km per day. The route is flat and the prevailing winds will be at our back. We’ll see castles, churches and ride thru the town of Linz on our way to Grein. Get your bike tuned up and ride along the Danube!
