Greetings all,
Ischgl is rapidly approaching. Don’t forget that trip participants depart from the dental clinic at 1200 Friday. This will get revelers to Ischgl in time for dinner and then evening end of season festivities. I’ll transmit a Flash SnoSheet notifying membership if trip vacancies materialize during the course of the week. Weather Thursday and Friday looks delightful but a front appears to be moving in for the weekend and with it a little precipitation so plan accordingly.
Mike and Dayna Wiederich completed their Danube bike route reconnaissance and have developed some great thoughts to make the Danube outing a special weekend. This should be a great outing with a tremendous blend of casual biking, sightseeing, and socializing.
Leslie Mehall now has twelve on her Memorial Day weekend golf escape to Austria. There may be enough for a mini-tournament on the final day. In speaking with Siegi the other day, sounds like he has three fabulous courses picked out for the golfing crew. Space is still available on this trip.
Our 28 April social is bike night. John from John’s Radhaus will provide various bike maintenance tips and will provide answers to your many biking questions. He’ll provide you pointers on how to be fitted for a bike. We’ll also conduct a raffle with a variety of nice winnings. It would be great if trip payments can be finalized for the Danube and the Golf escape.
As mentioned in the last SnoSheet, your 2010-2011 HISC Council will accept transfer of HISC responsibilities effective 5 May in time to host the 12 May social. This is my last SnoSheet, with the possible exception of a Flash SnoSheet alerting you to a last minute Ischgl vacancy.
As I complete my term as your HISC President, I’d like to take a moment to provide you with a little feedback on the health of the organization. I have good news. While our membership this year (403) when compared to last year is down by 11 members, all other trends are favorably up. We spent about 1010 euros more on complimentary drinks this year meaning we had over 300 more members participating in the socials over the course of the year. This increase in social participation contributed to trip participation…or was it visa-versa? (Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?) Six hundred and four people participated in trips this year. We averaged five more trip participants per trip this year and only had to cancel the early season Edersee adventure which competed with the community bazaar. Last year we had to cancel four trips due to lack of trip subscribership. We had about 375,000 euros in cash flow. What does all of this mean? I think it means membership continues to enjoy the fellowship, networking opportunities and quality recreational experiences HISC offers…it’s all about having fun.
I’d like to thank you, the membership, for the word-of-mouth endorsement you’ve given the club…your club…you grow the membership. Through your active endorsement and enthusiastic participation, we had a vibrant membership that had a tremendous year of fun “playing” together. Many thanks.
All of this could not have happened without the dedicated volunteerism of your very professional and loyal board – creative and energetic council members that simply created opportunities and made great things happen. Please take time during our final two socials to thank them for their dedication and countless volunteer hours producing first class events. I am forever indebted to them and honored to have served with them…what a great group!
I leave the board knowing that the Club is in great hands next year with a seasoned veteran leading the Club – Barb – and she has a great blend of new and old rounding out her council team.
In closing, I ask that as we experience the summer rotation cycle, please share with new arrivals and others the great opportunities and fun HISC offers. Recruit your friends to join HISC next year. Nothing better than being surrounded by those you enjoy being with. The larger and more active the membership, the more opportunities the club can offer.
Again, thanks for your support during the past year.
Look forward to seeing you Wednesday evening.
Regards, Al Rasper |
